“In the windy conditions and on the new circuit, it was very hard to ride alone at the front because the field always had me in their sights,” says Swings. “Today's race was one of the toughest I've ridden in Berlin.”
As the founder of the BERLIN-MARATHON, Horst Milde said: ‘The most important thing, apart from the runners, was and is the spectators, the Berliners, who create this unique atmosphere. And very important is my wife Sabine, if it wasn't for her, none of this would exist.
As the former world record holder in the half marathon, Kibiwott Kandie has great potential. His world record performance at the shorter distance of 57:32 is a strong indication that the 28-year-old could become one of the fastest marathon runners of all time.
“Tigist is expected to set off at a faster pace than the others. But the elite field is closely matched and could produce a surprise,” said Mark Milde, the Race Director. He has brought together an elite women’s field with eleven athletes who have broken 2:22.
