In the only moderate surprise, the 2nd Japanese man in Osaka, Kyohei Hosoya, was named alternate over his former Chuo Gakuin University teammate Tsubasa Ichiyama, the top Japanese man in Tokyo.
The personal bests of the top four men on the start list differ by just over one minute. This could point to a close race for victory. Justus Kangogo remains the leading runner on the list with his PB of 2:05:57 which he ran in Berlin 2023. Fellow-Kenyan Asbel Rutto is a late addition to the field.
At the finish line, Peachtree is introducing a brand-new post-race celebration. While the Atlanta Track Club Member Party will not return in 2025, all finishers aged 21 and older will receive a SweetWater Brewing beer.
“Running around the historic part of the city once ruled by three great empires—and along the Golden Horn—is a priceless experience. Every corner of this course holds a story from a different era. Anyone who says 'I love running' should come and run this race,“ said Race Director Renay Onur.
This iconic event is made possible thanks to the dedication of more than 1,000 volunteers. The starting gun will fire at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 5, signaling the beginning of another unforgettable edition of one of the world’s most exciting half marathons.
