New York, 5. November 2019 – Beim TCS New York City Marathon 2019 am Sonntag, 3. November, waren insgesamt 53.627 Finisher im Ziel.  Er ist damit der größte Marathon der Welt.

Der TCS New York City Marathon 2018 hielt mit 52.813 Teilnehmern die bisherige Marke.

Special Edition Drawing for the 50th Anniversary New York City Marathon in 2020 –
“50 for the 50th”
To kick off the 50th anniversary celebration of the TCS New York City Marathon, which will take place on Sunday, November 1, 2020, New York Road Runners launched registration on race day, Sunday, November 3, 2019, for a special edition drawing to select the first 50 runners to receive entry into the historic race. Registration for the “50 for the 50th” drawing was open for 50 hours, from 6:00 a.m. E.T. on Sunday, November 3 through 8:00 a.m. E.T. on Tuesday, November 5. The 50 runners were selected from a total drawing pool of 79,617 applicants. All applicants will remain in the entry pool for the regularly scheduled non-guaranteed entry drawing set for February 26, 2020.

The general application for the 2020 TCS New York City Marathon opens on January 30, 2020 and closes on February 13, 2020.

  1. Men’s open division winner: Geoffrey Kamworor, Kenya, 2:08:13
    1. Kamworor became the 10th runner to win multiple New York City Marathon titles in the men’s open division
    2. Jared Ward was the top American man, finishing in sixth place for the second consecutive year
    3. Abdi Abdirahman established a new American masters record (2:11:34)
    4. The top-finishing NYRR member was Girma Bekele Gebre in third place
  1. Women’s open division winner: Joyciline Jepksogei, KEN, 2:22:38
    1. Jepkosgei recorded the second-fastest time ever in the women’s open division in New York City Marathon history
    2. Jepkosgei became the first athlete since Gebre Gebremariam in 2010 to win the New York City Marathon in their debut at the distance
    3. Des Linden was the top American woman, finishing in sixth place for the second consecutive year
    4. 11 women ran under 2:28 – the most ever in New York City Marathon history
    5. Four 40+ women finished in the top 15: Nancy Kiprop (4th), Sinead Diver (5th), Roberta Groner (13th), and Kate Landau (15th)
    6. The top-finishing NYRR member was Groner in 13th place

    1. Romanchuk won his second consecutive event title, and in a margin of just 0.01 seconds over Switzerland’s Marcel Hug
    2. Romanchuk was first to cross 20K mark, earning eight bonus points on the Abbott World Marathon Majors leaderboard

    1. Schär’s time was the second fastest ever in the women’s wheelchair division in New York City Marathon history
    2. Schär’s victory was her third straight in New York and ninth consecutive Abbott World Marathon Majors race title
    3. Schär was first to cross 20K mark, earning eight bonus points on the Abbott World Marathon Majors leaderboard

Clothing Donation

  • During the TCS New York City Marathon, Goodwill NYNJ collected 122,760 pounds of clothing, bringing the total amount collected over the 7-year partnership between New York City Department of Sanitation, Goodwill NYNJ, and NYRR to a total of 1,004,303 pounds

About the TCS New York City Marathon
