In celebration of the Youth Olympic Flame coming to Berlin, Germany, the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) will host the Youth Olympic Day on 24 July, 2010.
The aim of the event is to give an insight into the Youth Olympic Games which will take place for the first time from 14 – 26 August, 2010 in Singapore.
The DOSB will organise a sports ground next to the Brandenburg Gate in Germany`s capital where guests may compete with elite sport stars.
A highlight of the event will be the arrival of the Youth Olympic Flame in the presence of the German Team for the Youth Olympic Games.
Lit in Olympia, Greece, and travelling to only one city on each continent, the German capital is chosen for the continent of Europe in the Olympic Torch Relay. Thus, representatives of all European National Olympic Committees are invited to the ceremony.
Other destinations of the Olympic Torch Relay will be:
- Dakar, Senegal, representing Africa;
- Mexico City, Mexico, representing the Americas;
- Auckland, New Zealand, representing Oceania;
- Seoul, Republic of Korea, representing Asia.
