Russian Olga Glok produced her first-ever sub 2:30 marathon race to win the women's title at the 15th Prague International Marathon, an IAAF Silver Label Road Race, on Sunday. Kenyan Patrick Ivuti won the men's race with a course record 2:07:48.

The 26-year-old Glok's winning time of 2:28:27 was the third best in Prague Marathon history. Glok became only the sixth Russian female to win the title.

Ethiopian Mulu Seboka, winner of the Toronto Marathon, finished second (2:30:39), while her compatriot Eyerusalem Mutal finished third in 2:32:43.

It was neck-and-neck all the way, with Glok making the difference only in the last 5km.

Ivuti knocked more than a minute from the previous Prague course record set by Elijah Lagat (2:08:52) in 1998, and was just two seconds shy of his own career best.

Kenyan Stephen Kibiwott was the second athlete to finish sub-2:08 by taking the silver in 2:07:54, more than two minutes better than his previous best.

Ukrainian Mykola Antonenko registered the best time among the European men and finished fourth in 2:10:54, while Portuguese Luis Feiteira claimed fifth in 2:11:57.

More than 6000 runners set off despite the early morning temperature of 19 C on a sunny Sunday morning in Prague's historic Old Town Square.
