Munich moves… Sunday, October 14, 2007

What an excitement! It seems that the whole of Munich is on the move on such a Marathon Sunday. Thousands of athletes enjoy the run through the city and the unique flair of the bavarian metropolis. They are accompanied and cheered on by the huge crowd of enthused Munich citizens.

The start takes place on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Olympic Park.

New: The course stays the same but the direction has changed. For the first time in 2007, the MUNICH MARATHON course runs clockwise through Munich. The runners start out of the Olympic Park area and head to Schwabing via the traditional course, then make a turn around the Siegestor and continue through the English Garden. From there, the course leads through the city quarters Oberföhring, Bogenhausen and Zamdorf.

During the last third of Munich´s marathon-sightseeing tour, the runners pass one highlight after the other – some of Munich’s finest sights and squares: the Rosenheimer Platz, Deutsches Museum, Isartor, Old Town with the Marienplatz, Odeonsplatz, Königsplatz, Ludwigstraße with the Siegestor and the world-famous Leopoldstraße all the way up to Franz-Joseph-Straße.

No matter if clockwise or anti-clockwise: The climax of the course will always be the finishing stretch with music and show effects through the large Marathon Gate and the last lap on the famous track of the spectacular Olympic Stadium.
