LONDON 2012 – Day 46: Olympic Flame to visit Rutland Water and Burghley House on its journey from Leicester to Peterborough
On Tuesday 3 July, the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay – presented by Coca-Cola, Lloyds TSB and Samsung – will travel 75.29 miles through 12 communities on its journey from Leicester to Peterborough.

The Relay will travel through the following communities: Leicester, Quorn, Loughborough, Hoton, Wymeswold, Asfordby, Melton Mowbray, Langham, Oakham, Uppingham, Stamford and Peterborough.
Highlights for today include:
7.12am – The first Torchbearer of the day will be Kevin Davies, 41, from Shepshed, who will start with the Flame at the National Space Centre. Kevin was nominated through the LOCOG public nomination campaign for his determination to carry on with his life the best he can after he became a tetraplegic following a motorbike accident in 2008. Jet Pack Man is set to the deliver the first Olympic Torch of the day to Kevin in a special intergalactic themed community event.
8.08am – Angela Conibear, 37, from Leicester, will carry the Flame on a train from Leicester to Quorn on the Great Central Railway. Angela was nominated through the LOCOG public nomination campaign for dedicating all of her time and energy raising money for a charity that gives wishes to terminally ill children.
9.47am – Audrey Cooper, 47, from Leake, will carry the Flame to the Sir Denis Rooke Building at Loughborough University where she will be greeted by members of Team GB. Audrey represented GB in the inaugural Olympic Beach Volleyball tournament in the Atlanta 1996 Games, finishing a credible 9th. She has proceeded to coach the GB Women's Indoor Volleyball Team and will be supporting them to compete in the London 2012 Games. She also currently works for Volleyball England as the Community Development Coach Manager.
2.57pm – Matthew Usher, 40, from Wellingborough, will carry the Flame on a boat travelling across Rutland Water from Whitwell Harbour. Matthew was selected through the Lloyds TSB campaign for getting involved in swimming coaching at his daughter's swimming club.
5.20pm – David Thompson, 45, from Huntingdon, will carry the Flame into the grounds of Burghley House. David was selected through the Coca-Cola campaign. He uses his own experience of losing weight and changing his lifestyle to help and inspire others to live a more healthy and active life.
At the front of Burghley House David will hand the Flame to Susan Probst, 56, from Stamford, who was selected through the Coca-Cola campaign for being inspirational in how she has overcome many obstacles in her life.
The Flame will change hands in front of the Elizabethan mansion, in the presence of Miranda Rock, the granddaughter of former Olympic hurdler, David Cecil, Lord Burghley, who won a gold medal at the 1928 Games and Sebastian Coe, Chair of the London 2012 Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. David Cecil, Lord Burghley held the equivalent position to Sebastian Coe for the 1948 Olympic Games.
5.54pm – The Flame will travel on the Nene Valley Railway from Wansford to Orton Mere.
7.04pm – Sumayya Manji, 14, from Peterborough, will carry the Flame into the Cathedral Gardens in Peterborough. Sumaya was selected through the Coca-Cola campaign for her charity work and the contribution that she makes to her community.
7.20pm – The last Torchbearer of the day will be Natasha Applegate, 17, from Peterborough, who will carry the Flame into the Evening Celebration on the River Embankment site. Natasha was selected through the Coca-Cola campaign for her dedication to playing and coaching football.
The evening celebration will take place on the River Embankment in Peterborough.
The evening celebration will feature a variety of entertainment staged by LOCOG and the three Presenting Partners of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay – Coca-Cola, Lloyds TSB and Samsung – with support from Peterborough City Council. The show will start at 5pm.
The line-up includes music from Morning Parade, a dance troupe who will provide a unique fusion of street performance, theatre and sport and dance act Twist and Pulse. There will also be entertainment from local acts staged by Peterborough City Council.
Towards the end of the two-hour show, the last Torchbearer of the day in Peterborough – Natasha Applegate – will light a celebration cauldron on stage at the event which will enable the Olympic Flame to be seen by the audience.
Torchbearer highlights:
Gary Lineker, will carry the Flame in Leicester. Gary began his football career at Leicester City and remains England's top scorer in the FIFA World Cup finals, with ten goals. He made his England debut in 1984 and over the following eight years earned 80 caps and scored 48 goals, finishing as England's all-time second highest scorer behind Bobby Charlton. His international goals-to-games ratio remains one of the best for the country and he is regarded as one of the all-time best English strikers.
Baroness Sue Campbell, 63, from Woodhouse, will carry the Flame in Quorn. She is Chair of Youth Sport Trust, selected thanks to her continued support of Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week which is run in partnership with Youth Sport Trust, and her dedication to sport in the UK.
Richard Whitehead, 35, from Nottingham, will carry the Flame through Loughborough. He was selected through the Coca-Cola campaign. He holds the world record for athletes with a double amputation, in both the full and half marathon. He aims to use London 2012 as platform to inspire people from all walks of life. This includes not only disabled athletes, but able-bodied ones too.
Ranjan Saujani, 59, from Leicester, will carry the Flame in Loughborough. She was nominated through the LOCOG public nomination campaign for working tirelessly with a range of community, disability, elderly, voluntary, Asian and other underrepresented groups to make a huge differences in the community that she lives in.
James Williams, Director, Olympic Torch Relay, Coca-Cola Northwest Europe & Nordics, said: "Today, more Coca-Cola Future Flames will help us celebrate the forty-sixth day of our amazing journey, including Jhon Bateman and Megan Arnold who carry the Olympic Flame in Leicester and Wymeswold. We will also get everyone to Move to the Beat tonight as we bring Morning Parade to the stage in Peterborough."
