Jordan Hasay earns second 2017 USATF Athlete of the Week honors following Boston Marathon debut – USA Track & Field – News
INDIANAPOLIS — 25-year-old Jordan Hasay (Arroyo Grande, California) ran a stunning marathon debut at the 2017 Boston Marathon, finishing third in the women's race and marking the fastest debut by an American woman in 2:23:00. Hasay is now the fourth-fastest marathoner in USATF history.
Hasay maintained a steady pace with established marathon runners throughout the course, finishing behind winner Edna Kiplagat of Kenya (2:21:52) and second-place finisher of Bahrain Rose Chelimo (2:22:51).
Hasay dedicated her performance to her mother, Teresa, who passed away unexpectedly last November at the age of 56.
This is Hasay's second USATF Athlete of the Week honors of 2017; she was previously highlighted in January for an impressive half marathon debut at the Aramco Houston Half Marathon.
