ING New York City Marathon Opening Day Begins the Road to the Finish – Live broadcast with hundreds of tri-state-area runners in live audience expected to gather for special drawing of entrants for this year\’s race

NEW YORK – New York Road Runners will host the Opening Day broadcast for the ING New York City Marathon 2011. The first professional athlete entrants for the ING New York City Marathon 2011 will also be announced at this time. The show will culminate in the drawing of the non-guaranteed entrants for the ING New York City Marathon 2011.

Olympic speed-skating gold medalist Apolo Anton Ohno is expected to make official announcement of his marathon debut. A news briefing with NYRR officials on marathon's economic impact begins at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27. Live broadcast at noon Eastern time.

Al Roker, TV personality; Bruce Beck, veteran WNBC sportscaster; Cat Greenleaf, WNBC host; Ohno, eight-time Olympic medalist in short track speed skating; and top professional athletes, announcing participation in the ING New York City Marathon 2011, will be in attendance.
