European Athletics has appointed Former Olympic champion and High Jump star Stefan Holm and Italian Hurdler Laurent Ottoz as ambassadors to promote awareness about anti-doping among young athletes.The initiative is in line with European Athletics strategy to be a leader in the fight against the menace of Doping in Athletics.

European Athletics has appointed Former Olympic champion and High Jump star Stefan Holm and Italian Hurdler Laurent Ottoz as ambassadors to promote awareness about anti-doping among young athletes.
The initiative is in line with European Athletics strategy to be a leader in the fight against the menace of Doping in Athletics. The two athletes will use the platform of the European Athletics Junior Championships in Novi Sad, Serbia and European Athletics Under-23 Championships in Kaunas, Lithuania to spread the message of ‘Doping free Athletics among the young athletes of Europe.
The two most important age-group meet in Europe are scheduled to be held during July 23-26 and July 16-19 respectively. The initiative is a part of the European Athletics Anti-Doping Education Programme.
Holm, who retired from competitive sports in 2008, is one of the most decorated High Jump star of the past two decades. The Swede won the Olympic gold medal in Athens, and went on to win four gold and a silver medal at the IAAF World Championships. He also had the distinction of winning a gold, two silver medals and a bronze medal in the European Championships over the years.
Ottoz on the other hand is one of the best hurdler Italy has ever produced. He held the Italian 110m hurdles record and the 400m hurdles Italian record at one point of time.
The inaugural edition of the European Athletics Anti-Doping Education Programme organized simultaneously in Debrecen, Hungary and Hengelo, Netherlands in 2007 was a huge success and witnessed participation from over 700 participants from 50 Member Federations.
