Comcast Sportsnet to Cover Marine Corps Marathon – Live marathon day special from the starting line will be part of coverage package
BETHESDA, Md, – Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, the region’s premier source for television and online sports coverage, will deliver extensive coverage surrounding the 35th Marine Corps Marathon as the event’s exclusive television partner. In addition to providing live race-day coverage on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, the network will feature a variety of marathon-related interviews and stories leading up to the event within its news and entertainment programs.
Comcast SportsNet will air the special edition SportsNet Central: Live from the Marine Corps Marathon on location at the event’s starting line in Arlington on Oct. 31 from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Hosted by Brent Harris and Jill Sorenson, the exclusive marathon-day show will present all-access coverage of the festivities taking place around the start of the historic marathon, including interviews with organizers, participants and special guests. Exclusive coverage of the event will continue with live updates throughout the day and a complete wrap-up and highlights within that evening’s SportsNet Central shows.
Comcast SportsNet’s expanded television coverage of the Marine Corps Marathon will also be featured on the network’s portfolio of daily news and entertainment programs leading up to the race. Beginning on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, SportsNet Central will chronicle several runners and deliver interesting features leading up to the marathon as part of a special series, Countdown to the Marine Corps Marathon. As they prepare for the race, several marathon participants and organizers will make appearances on Washington Post Live with Ivan Carter to preview the event.
CSNwashington.com, the network’s award-winning source for online sports news and analysis, will also provide participants and their friends and family the opportunity to watch video highlights of the runners crossing the finish line following the race.
