Athletics Australia, together with its key stakeholders the state Member Associations, the ATFCA, Little Athletics Australia and the Australian Sports Commission, has announced the release of the Athletics Coach Accredited Framework, which comes into full effect from January 1, 2011.

The key elements of the framework are:

1. A clearly defined pathway for coaches from 'Introduction to Coaching' through Little Athletics (non-accredited) to the entry point for accreditation, 'Beginning Coach', then options for coaches at club/school level, Under 13 juniors and performance coaches through to international competition.

2. An alignment of all currently accredited coaches to the new framework that will ensure all coaches maintain at least their current level of accreditation.

3. The Accredited Athletics Coach must demonstrate they are currently competent at their level of accreditation, they have agreed to the coaches' Code of Conduct, have met all provisions for Member Protection and are registered with the national body responsible for accreditation – Athletics Australia.

Accreditation as an Athletics Coach with the National Coach Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) is only possible with Athletics Australia.

– From 2011, your accreditation is separate from your membership with the ATFCA.

– Coaches will pay their accreditation registration fee to Athletics Australia.

– Coaches will pay their ATFCA membership fee directly to the ATFCA.

3. Be included on the single national database of Accredited Athletics Coaches including the ASC’s Sport Accreditation Online and the NCAS.

4. Be registered as a coach with your home state/territory athletics Member Association.
