All-time high 12. Poznań Marathon! – The biggest running event in Poland with 4702 runners.
Poznań Marathon has just past! Despite of concerns about the marathon route change due to UEFA EURO 2012 roadworks, the Polish marathoners community appeared firm and ready in Poznań! This year, the biggest running event in Poland gathered all-time high number of athletes – fully 4702 of runners, representing 34 countries took the 42 kilometres 195 metres distance head-on.
4618 athletes crossed the finish line.
The number of 4618 marathoners means that Poznań is still holding the title of Polish capital city of running, and moreover, Poznań aimed real high raising the standards – it would be a hard task to challenge the frequency record made in 12. Poznań Marathon event.
Another great success was made by establishing new Poznan Marathon route record! Cosmas Mutukuku Kyeva from Kenya crossed the finish line after 02:11:53.
This year's edition offered lots of attractions and nice surprises to Marathon participants. The new route was a true defiance to many of them. At he finish line, there was a medal, commemorating the centennial of Poznań Palm House for every competitor. Along with the run, number of side-events were held: an Expo, side-runs and pasta party.
There were also few championship-runs, among others 1st Polish Cabaret Marathon Championship.
The happy owner of brand new Volvo V60 was Mr Stanisław Fryca, who finished the marathon in 03:34:53
