2018 OMTOM ENTRIES SMASH RECORDS – Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon

By GRR 0

We had a feeling that the 2018 Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon would be a special one, but we didn't expect that our wildest expectations would be exceeded from the get-go, with 2018 OMTOM Ultra entries selling out in just two days!

If you missed out on an Ultra Marathon entry, there's still hope: Very limited charity entries will be available through our charity partners from 4 December 2017, while the Substitution Entry window will be open between 9 January and 28 February 2018.

Meanwhile, OMTOM Half Marathon Ballot Applications have opened and closed, attracting 26 000 ballot applicants. Running Clubs had an opportunity to verify their members’ details, and the Club Draw took place on 20 November.

Please read below for more information.

If you have any queries, please contact us on our NEW Race Office Support Number, 087 740 5260, or email us at info@twooceansmarathon.org.za. Do note that there is currently a delay in response due to high contact volumes. Thanks for your patience while we give each query personal attention.

We hope to see you on the road and trails soon!

Running regards
The Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon Team

PAYING FOR YOUR HALF MARATHON ENTRY

When your name is successfully drawn in the OMTOM Half Marathon Ballot, please ensure that you are fully aware of your payment window and what needs to be done. While many OMTOM runners' profiles have been linked to their Webtickets accounts, others will be required to link their accounts prior to payment. Once your accounts have been linked, you must return to your OMTOM profile and click the PAY button, which will then direct you to your Webtickets payment portal, where you will be able to select whether you want to pay online or in-store.

CLUB VERIFICATION

Does seeing an outstanding Club verification status on your entry profile stress you out? DON'T WORRY! It is simply a reminder that your 2018 Club information must be updated before 28 February 2018.

Clubs will be sent another invitation to verify their 2018 members between 1 and 6 March 2018.

RUNNERS' VILLAGE APPLICATIONS HAVE OPENED

Every year, it is our honour to turn a few hundred runners' OMTOM dreams a reality. The Runners' Village becomes the home away from home for a select group of runners from disadvantaged communities. Their accommodation, meals and transport in Cape Town are catered for, so that they only need to focus on having a great run on Race Day. Applications for the 2018 OMTOM Runners' Village are now open.

OMTOM TRAIL RUN ENTRIES OPEN ON
1 DECEMBER

If you love trail running, then take note: The Old Mutual Two Oceans Trail Run entries will open on 1 December at 10am (12km entries) and 11am (24km entries) respectively. Hailed as one of the best trail races in SA, the 24km OMTOM Trail Run is a must-do for serious runners, while the 12km Trail Run is great for newer (but fit and confident) trail runners.

NOTE: While many OMTOM runners' profiles have been linked to their Webtickets accounts, others will be required to link their accounts prior to payment. Entries are expected to run out within minutes, and we therefore urge all prospective entrants to link their OMTOM and Webtickets profiles before 1 December. You will ONLY see the PAY button on your OMTOM entry dashboard once your accounts have been linked, and you will have 24 hours to complete your in-store payment if you don't pay by credit card.

HAVE YOU MET THE 2018 OMTOM BENEFICIARIES?

The Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon doesn’t just provide a great day out for runners. The event is also a fantastic way to give something back to some very worthy causes through the Two Oceans Marathon Initiative (TOMI).  All participants of any 2018 OMTOM event have an opportunity to make a donation to THEIR favourite beneficiary.

TOMI was launched ahead of the 2012 Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon (OMTOM) as a fundraising initiative that provides much-needed funding for select groups of charities that match the Two Oceans Marathon's support pillars of Education, Environment, Health and Athletics Development.

The 2018 OMTOM beneficiaries are…

The Chaeli Campaign is a non-profit organisation that works to mobilise the minds and bodies of children with disabilities.
The Igazi Foundation is the only dedicated blood cancer service NGO in southern Africa. Their work includes lobbying provincial and national government to improve existing haematological services and facilities for sufferers.
Waves for Change is a life changing surf therapy programme that provides a fun outlet for vulnerable children; the programmes helps them to deal with stress, build meaningful relationships and to ultimately make better life choices.
The Wildlands Conservation Trust shares the OMTOM dream to conserve the natural environment and facilitate development. shares the OMTOM dream to conserve the natural environment and facilitate development.
