Odriozola appointed Technical Delegate for London 2012 – European Athletics (EAA) – NEWS
Jose Maria Odriozola, the President of the Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA), has been appointed as a Technical Delegate for athletics events at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The appointment was made during the last Council Meeting of the IAAF in Berlin last week. Odriozola is also a delegate at the IAAF World Championships to be held in the German capital from August 15-23.
The Council also appointed Luis Saladie from RFEA as a technical delegate for the World Youth Championships in Lille 2011.
Over the years, Odriozola has acquired immense experience serving as a technical delegate at the 2000 World Junior Championships in Santiago, Chile, 2003 IAAF World Championships in Paris among others. While Luis Saladie has been a technical delegate at the 2002 IAAF Race Walking World Cup in Torino, as well as the IAAF World Junior Championship in Bydgoszcz 2008.
A technical delegate is required to have vast experience and knowledge of athletics; his main functions are to collaborate with the local organisers for scheduling of the competition.
A technical delegate supervises all the technical part of the competition, which among other things includes facilities, training area, materials, coordination with the local judges and the other nominated delegates.
