Berlin and Germany's support for Munich 2018 was highlighted today, with the Ferris wheel at the heart of the famous ‘Rote Rathaus' Christmas market in Berlin proudly displaying a Munich 2018 banner.

Katarina Witt, Chair of the Munich 2018 Bid Committee, said: ‘I am proud that my home town supports the bid, as the whole of Germany would be boosted if we win the chance to celebrate our Festival of Friendship in 2018.'

Klaus Wowereit, Mayor of Berlin, said: ‘Berlin's support for Munich's bid to host the 2018 Winter Games is clear and along with the rest of the country, we would benefit from the great prestige associated with hosting this global sporting event.'
