European Athletics (EAA) – News – Nool to speak at Tallinn Decathlon Conference

The Estonian Athletic Federation has invited coaches, athletes and combined events enthusiasts to take part in the 1st European Decathlon Conference in Tallinn, 5 and 6, October 2011.

Olympic Champion Erki Nool and Russia’s Yevgeniy Zagorulko will be the headline speakers at the conference, which is part of the 2011 European Athletics Coaching Summit Series and will include presentations, sample training sessions and biomechanical analyses focused on the High Jump and Long Jump in the context of the decathlon.

Nool, who won the decathlon in at both the 2000 Olympics in Sydney and the 1998 European Athletics Championships, is still the Estonian record holder in the long jump. He has recently been elected to the European Athletics Council having previously served on the Development Committee.

Zagorulko is the coach of a number of top Russian high jump performers, including recently crowned world champion Anna Chicherova, defending Olympic Champion Andrey Silnov and 1983 World Champion Tamara Bykova.

Other confirmed speakers for the conference, include the 1970 European Champion in the long jump, Tõnu Lepik, who topped the world junior decathlon list in 1964, and Gaspar Eprc, who will present a 3D analysis of the high jump technique of different decathletes.

Prices for the conference are as follows:

Conference fee (includes 2 lunches) – 110 euros

Accommodation in a single room – 70 euros (per night)

Accommodation in a double room – 42.50 euros (per night)

European Athletics’ support for the conference includes the offer of Coaching Summit Series scholarships to its Member Federations to help them cover the costs of travel and accommodation for coaches attending.
