On a warm, breezy evening at Dilboy Memorial Stadium, Ethiopia’s Muktar Edris gave fans another great show in the 5000 meters and Team B.A.A. athletes swept the 1500 meter races in the second-annual adidas Boost Boston Games.

Edris, the 2015 IAAF World Cross Country bronze medalist, won the 5000 meters in 13:01.04, dropping Kenya’s Cyrus Rutto at the bell as fans lined the track to cheer the action. With a spot on Ethiopia’s team for this summer World Championships possibly at stake, Edris raced the clock for a 58:41 last lap.

In the men’s and women’s 1500 meters, Chris O’Hare and Emily Lipari gave the fans a hometown treat when they won their respective races wearing the blue and gold of the Boston Athletic Association.

O’Hare, a 2016 Olympian for Great Britain, outkicked a huge and bunched field at the bell to win in 3:39.81, while Lipari took her race in 4:12.32 over South African 10,000-meter Olympian Dominique Scott.

Gabe Grunewald, competing in her last race before starting chemotherapy for a recurrence of cancer first diagnosed in 2009, finished fourth in 4:17.75. She’s hoping to finish out her season at the USA Outdoor Championships, which occur in an off week between rounds of treatment.

In the women’s 800 meters, Charlene Lipsey continued her winning ways with yet-another personal best, 1:59.57, with high schooler Sammy Watson notching another PB of her own in 2:00.78 as runner-up after roaring through the field from seventh place at the bell.

The athletes in both the Boys’ and Girls’ Dream Miles put on a show. On the girls’ side, Idaho freshman Lexy Hallady took it right to the line over Brie Oakley, the high school national record-holder at 5000 meters, and Lauren Gregory, who finished two and three.

For the boys, it was Patrick Parker of Utah took the lead with 50 meters to go and won in a monster PB of 4:03.99.
