Zürich 2014 – Marathon with a scenic, but challenging race course

Marathon/walking – The two championship marathon races will present Zurich and Switzerland in the best possible light. The Zürich 2014 promoters have selected a scenic race course that will showcase the city’s picturesque historic city centre, the riverfront and the lakeshore area.

Even the Alps will contribute to the races’ spectacular backdrop. TV viewers around the world will get to see great competitions in a beautiful environment.

The race course will take the athletes steeply uphill to the terrace of the Federal Institute of Technology as many as four times, and lead them through the Zurich city centre, and along the lakefront (start/finish area at Bürkliplatz).

The challenging race course is likely to create lasting memories for the competitors. And maybe, it will create a special one for Viktor Röthlin.

“The course offers tactical leeway. I think it will suit me well,” the reigning European champion commented at the official race course presentation.
