The following world record has recently been ratified…

Renaud Lavillenie, who suffered a foot injury following his historic 6.16m clearance, is not able to defend his IAAF World Indoor Championships title in Sopot this weekend but has travelled to the Polish city to be a spectator at the championships. 

NOTES:

Renaud Lavillenie's 6.16m indoor mark exceeds Sergey Bubka's existing 6.14m set outdoors, and is therefore now the world record.

Since 1998, IAAF Rules (currently Rule 260.18) have stated that world records can be set in a facility 'with or without a roof’ but the rule did not apply retrospectively.

Sergey Bubka’s indoor world record of 6.15m on 21 February, 1993, which was in excess of his outdoor world record at the time (6.13m, 19 Sep 1992 which he improved to 6.14m, 31 July 1994) but was set before this rule came into effect.
