WOC-WTOC 2014 MOVING CLOSER OVER 35 NATIONS ALREADY REGISTERED – 2014 World Orienteering and Trail Orienteering Championships next July

Incredibly snowy winter on the Italian Alps and on the peaks and hills of Trentino and Veneto regions in particular presumably held back a little outdoor sports passionates. However, orienteering has always rhymed with exploring and enjoying the surrounding natural environment, twelve months a year and seven days a week, and while in wait of the 2014 World Orienteering and Trail Orienteering Championships, Italian orienteers started to count it down.

From 5 to 12 July, 2014 the cities of Venice and Trento, along with the Asiago and the Valsugana areas plus the beautiful Folgaria, Lavarone and Luserna hilly plateau will house the 2014 WOC-WTOC and 37 nations have already registered their athletes to the several competitions.

Some sort of ‘global invasion' is expected in Northern Italy with people from Argentina, Brasil, Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, China, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, South Africa, Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Bulgaria, Check Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Lithuania, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine and Hungary. Italy will certainly be part of the game kicking off in over 100 days.

On the same terrains where the World races will take place, the Italian OC set the ‘5 Days of Italy', the perfect chance for orienteers of any level and age to meet new people from different countries and enjoy natural and architectural beauties during an entire week, armed with compasses and maps.

For those who plan to take part in the 5 Days event, the third entry deadline has been pushed to 31 March, 2014. The prologue is scheduled on Saturday 5 July in Venice.
