TUSACALOOSA, Ala. – The Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports Commission (TTSC) as well as the Tuscaloosa County Parks and Recreation Authority (PARA) is proud to announce that The Warrior Dash, known as the ‘world’s largest obstacle race series’, is coming to Tuscaloosa on Saturday, November 2, at Munny-Sokol Park.

The Warrior Dash presents adventure-seeking athletes with 12 race obstacles and wild competition battling through everything from fire and barbed wire to mud and water.  The obstacle course is approximately three to four miles long and will wind in and out of Munny-Sokol Park, providing for an extreme environment.

Races will be held in waves and will begin at 9 a.m. promptly.  Every half-hour a new wave of participants will begin their journey to the finish line.  Shortly after the race starts, festivities will begin with food, bands and beer.  Turkey legs and other warrior grub will be available for purchase.  An awards ceremony will be hosted one hour after the last wave, honoring the best racers and the best costume.

The top three overall times for both male and female win a custom-engraved steel Warrior helmet.  The top three times in each age division for male and female win a steel Warrior helmet trophy.  Participants are encouraged to dress to the best with crazy costumes or their top warrior attire.  The participant with the craziest costume will be awarded, which is determined by audience applause.

The Warrior Dash will be held at Munny-Sokol Park, 6198 Watermelon Rd., Tuscaloosa, AL 35406, and parking will be available throughout different areas of the park.  Registration is $60 through Oct. 9 and will increase to $75 until event day.
