USA Track Field – News – Renee Washington named USATF COO INDIANAPOLIS
An attorney with expertise in business affairs, contract negotiations, compliance issues and the nonprofit sector, Renee Chube Washington has been named Chief Operating Officer of USA Track & Field, CEO Max Siegel announced Tuesday. Washington will begin her duties at USATF on June 1.
As COO, Ms. Washington will oversee daily operations of USATF, with focus on executing the organization’s strategic plan, helping to remake USATF’s business model, managing staff and validating organizational progress toward measurable goals.
“Renee’s professional background is a great blend of managing personnel, contracts, vendors and a variety of interest groups, including critical experience with nonprofits,” Siegel said. “She is both a listener and a ‘doer’ and will be a valuable addition to our team.”
“I am very excited to join an organization so integral to the international sporting world, particularly in an Olympic year,” Washington said. “I see tremendous growth opportunities for USA Track & Field. I look forward to helping USATF progress as a professional organization.”
Ms. Washington currently serves at Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation where she manages a $140+M dollar portfolio of contracts for local, state and commercial customers. She provides leadership and business management skills to program teams and oversight of quality control, ethics and consumer expectations.
She previously was contracts department director for CICOA, a private, nonprofit agency advocate for the aged, where she oversaw compliance issues, was the point of contact for vendor contracts and coordinated contractual requirements with the operating staff.
A Georgetown University Law graduate, Ms. Washington’s professional career began in government, working as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. While at the Department of Labor, Ms. Washington advanced to Deputy Associate General Counsel and Acting Associate General Counsel, leading a team of more than 20 attorneys.
A past president of the Junior League of Indianapolis, her extensive work in social causes includes volunteering for Wishard Memorial Hospital’s Foundation Board; the Girl Scouts; American Cancer Society Guild; and numerous educational, cultural and political causes. Ms. Washington earned her undergraduate degree at Spelman College. She resides in Indianapolis.
