USA Track & Field – News – 200 runners descend upon Caumsett State Park for 50 km Championships
INDIANAPOLIS — Caumsett State Park in Huntington, N.Y., will serve as host to the 50 km Road Championships Saturday for the ninth consecutive time as more than 200 runners are expected to finish the looped course on a route comprised of moderate hills rolling through property formerly owned by Marshall Field’s family.
Emily Harrison (Flagstaff, Ariz.) sets the women’s standard as she is likely to challenge Dana Parrot’s 1999 race record of 3:29:28. Tracy Meder (Stow, Ohio), also a favorite to finish top-two, took second place in 2012 with her time of 3:47:10.
The course, which features scenic views of Long Island Sound, mansions and horse stables, saw 180 finishers in 2013.
Race results will be available on USATF.org.
