University of Vienna marks 650th anniversary with 650 runners taking part at the Vienna City Marathon

To mark the 650th Anniversary of the University of Vienna, a total of 650 runners are starting at the Vienna City Marathon on 12 April 2015. Students and staff have the opportunity to run side by side and – in the relay marathon – even in the same team.

Staff and students of the University of Vienna have been offered 650 discount tickets. These starting places have been sold out quickly within two days.

We are Europe – Donate your T-shirt!

Runners of the University team are happy to make their contributions to the VCM’s motto of [We are Europe]. The new motto for Austria's major sporting event emphasises the sense of community through running. In conjunction with the VCM’s theme for the year a collection of running T-shirts has been started.

In the build-up to the VCM 2015 the T-shirts shall be turned into a giant, multi-coloured [Carpet for Europe]. This carpet will be auctioned for the VCM charity.

Donate your T-shirt – it can still be useful! A T-shirt box is located at the aula of the University of Vienna (turn left from the main entrance to the direction of the library).

The team of the Vienna City Marathon congratulates the University of Vienna on the big jubilee and wishes all runners an unforgettable experience!
