Berlin, 2nd April 2016 The world’s largest inline marathon, the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON Inlineskating will take place on the 24th September 2016 for the 20th time. In order to mark this occasion, the organisers of SCC Events and IGUANA Deutschland GmbH have initiated the “Berlin Jubilee Tour”.

The tour will with the help of ambassadors, media partners and a mascot address all skaters and offer chances to win invitations to Berlin to celebrate with thousands of elite and leisure skaters. The launch of the Berlin Jubilee Tour takes place at this year’s Berlin Half Marathon on 3rd April 2016.

On April 6, 1997 at the 17th Berlin Half Marathon the inline race premiered with 46 participants.

Race Director Horst Milde "practiced" this new sport initially on a 3 km long round, starting in the Karl-Marx-Allee (at Cafe Moskau), the finish was in the Alexander Street at the Congress Hall.

Winners were then Sebastian Baumgartner (Konstanz) and Tina Pechardscheck (Berlin)

The aim of this campaign is to increase awareness for the inline sport throughout the 2016 season both for the top level and for the masses and to celebrate the 20th edition of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON Inlineskating with as many skaters as possible at the conclusion of this season.
