It’s a meticulous organisation which will be put in place during the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Paris-Bercy from 4 to 6 March. Indeed, several hundred people, a large number of whom are already in position, will be busying themselves behind the scenes to ensure the success of this winter’s key continental competition.

To ensure that the athletics competition is successful, there must be a spectacle on the track. That’s not all however. A score of finer details must be arranged such as  a musical manuscript so that the athletes, the public, the accompanists, as well as the journalists, are able to take part in or attend the competition in the best possible conditions. This background role is shared by several hundred people. Naturally this includes the staff of the French Athletic Federation and European Athletics  , who have been rallying their forces for a number of months, along with a jury made up of no less than 200 officials and volunteers.

Coming from right across France, including France’s overseas departments and even abroad, their applications have been retained from among several hundred requests. Their roles? To measure the jumps and throws, to check that each athlete stays correctly inside his or her lane and to fire off the races. They also manage the technical information centre (TIC), where the delegations from each country can pick up the start lists and the day’s results. Another mission is to take care of the call  room, where the athletes go before heading onto the track.

Another mainspring of the organisation is the volunteers. No fewer than 414 volunteers have become involved with the organisation of these European Athletics Indoor Championships since having individual interviews to enable their wishes and particular skill sets to be identified and used to best effect. The majority of the volunteers are involved in the transport domain, with 99 people assisting in this area. In total there are thirteen allocated sectors, including reception, protocol, accommodation-catering, security as well as press. With less than a month until the start of the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Bercy, everyone is already in the starting blocks!

L’Equipe group and RMC, media partners of the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Paris Bercy

To continue the review of the event’s partners, we focus this Friday on the competition’s media partners: L’Equipe group and RMC, who join the ranks of SPAR, OMEGA, LE GRUYERE and EUROVISION (international partners) as well as AREVA (national partner), Adidas, DIMASPORT and MONDO (national suppliers) and FRANCE TELEVISIONS (host television broadcaster).

In addition to its editorial support and the provision of advertising space, a host of original devices are being put in place by both partners in the build-up to and during the championships. Explanations
