Tata Consultancy Services deepens its long term partnership with the TCS Amsterdam Marathon

By GRR 0

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading IT services, consulting and business solutions organization, has today announced the extension of its partnership with the TCS Amsterdam Marathon.

In an agreement signed in the presence of the Vice-Mayor for Sports of the City of Amsterdam, Eric van der Burg, the company renewed its title sponsorship of the marathon right through to 2020, extending the original tenure by an additional five years.

Since TCS first signed on with the marathon in 2011, The TCS Amsterdam Marathon has strengthened its position as one of the world's leading sporting events. It received the IAAF Gold Label for Road Races, the highest accreditation in this field and has grown to become one of the largest and most popular marathons in Europe, hosting over 44.000 runners from over 90 countries in 2014.

The employees and clients of TCS have contributed heavily to the event, accounting for over 4% of all runners. Over the past four years, 4900 of the company's clients and employees joined forces to support the fight against cancer. Thirty of its clients and partner companies formed joint running teams with TCS and had run in the TCS Amsterdam marathon in support of the official charity – VUmc Amsterdam Cancer Centre (VUmc CCA). These included ABN AMRO, Nyenrode Business University, Achmea, ASML, Avery Dennison, AXA, Belgacom, DSM, I amsterdam, ING, Irdeto, KLM, KPN, NXP, Platform Outsourcing Nederland, Rabobank, Royal HaskoningDHV, and Tata Steel, among others. Through these efforts and contributions by participants over €500,000 were raised for the VUmc Cancer Center Amsterdam.

TCS has also brought in its technology expertise to enhance the experience of the event for both runners and their supporters. The official mobile app of the event is annually built and contributed by TCS.  Last years' edition was driven by the #TCSSuperheroes campaign, an initiative to raise awareness for the marathon and highlight the stories of personal achievement behind every participant. TCS drove the branding and social media strategy, engaging an audience of over 15 million on social media with the event.

Amit Kapur, Director and Head of Benelux of Tata Consultancy Services commented: "At the TCS Amsterdam Marathon, we are always inspired by the personal achievement of every runner, the money they raise for charity, and the stories that have motivated them to participate. It is an honour for us to continue as the marathon's title sponsor until 2020. We are excited to help people from across the world to participate in one of the world's leading sporting events and support a vital charity effort at the same time."

Eric van der Burg, Vice-Mayor for Sports of the City of Amsterdam, commented: "TCS' support for the TCS Amsterdam Marathon over the last five years has made an immeasurable contribution to sport in Amsterdam and the people who participate in it. We are delighted that the relationship with TCS will continue for another five years and are looking forward to building on the success of 2014 as we continue to promote sport in Amsterdam."

Cees Pronk, Race Director TCS Amsterdam Marathon/Le Champion: "We are proud to extend our partnership with Tata Consultancy Services. As an international top running event in Amsterdam, we can now continue to build on our Superheroes goals.  After our success at the TCS Amsterdam Marathon in 2014, it shows that anybody can be a superhero: By breaking through boundaries, by exceeding personal expectations and by inspiring many others. Knowing that TCS' partnership is continued until 2020, we look forward to taking the marathon to new frontiers of achievement."
