Sebrle named as World\’s best sportsman – – NEWS

World record holder and Olympic, World and European Decathlon Champion Roman Sebrle (CZE) has been named the World's best sportsman by the Wall Street Journal.

The Czech legend said,
"It is always a great feeling to hear and read something like that. I do not want say something about whether it is right or not, or about the criteria. It is the opinion of the selectors. I admire all other sports personalities too. I like football very much and I played this game before I started with athletics. But as a keen golfer for me somebody very special is Tiger Woods. However it is good for our sport to have been awarded the number one position, especially in an Olympic year."

Sebrle qualified for the Olympics this week at his first Decathlon outing of the season in Kladno and now he will move into his main preparation period for Beijing where he is determined to defend his Athens gold despite a season marred with injuries so far.
