RUNNING USA – Aiello Inspiration Team at NU Hartford Marathon & Half Marathon Unveiled

GLASTONBURY, Conn. – The Hartford Marathon Foundation is pleased to announce the final selection of the 2014 NU Hartford Marathon Aiello Inspiration Team, mirroring the focus on children, charity, community and health for the event’s 21st running.

These ten inspiring athletes share a commitment to charity and community involvement, and the well being of themselves and those around them.  Nominations were submitted for those who made positive contributions to their communities and serve as an inspiration to many. 

The NU Hartford Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K events will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2014 in Bushnell Park, Hartford. Members of the Aiello Inspiration Team will receive special VIP treatment, including VIP tickets to the Pasta Supper at The Hartford Club, a special Aiello Team Jacket and VIP access on race morning. Additionally, the team will be profiled in New England Runner magazine and the NU Hartford Marathon Insider’s Guide.

Accomplished Paralympic athlete; Mentorship Program Coordinator at Hospital for Special Care

Molly Sweeney – Hebron, CT

19-year-old Assumption College overcoming multiple physical challenges to continue running

David Zagaja – Wethersfield, CT

Donated Kidney to Brother-in-Law less than a year ago

 

The Hartford Marathon Foundation is joined by Aiello Home Services, sponsor of the team, in the effort to recognize individuals whose determination and perseverance serve as an inspiration and motivation for others.

 

“It is amazing to see, year after year, how many truly incredible athletes participate with us. We created the Aiello Inspiration Team to help draw some well-deserved recognition for their stories and honor them for their efforts,” said Beth Shluger, Executive Director of the Hartford Marathon Foundation.  “Together with Northeast Utilities and Aiello Home Services, we want to show appreciation for the inspiring people that contribute so positively to the people and communities around us.”
