RUNNING GERMANY – DÜSSELDORF – Over Berlin and New York to Düsseldorf ON April 28th 2013 – METRO GROUP Marathon Düsseldorf participant numbers much higher than last year.

It looks like a new record for the METRO GROUP Marathon Düsseldorf. The organizer rhein-marathon düsseldorf e.V. records an increase of 20 percent in participants in comparison to the same time last year. Already 2.000 national and international marathon runners have signed up for the run in Düsseldorf.

Jan-Henning Winschermann, race director of the METRO GROUP Marathon Düsseldorf, confirms “we are very happy with the current numbers. Despite the national trend our participant numbers for the marathon show an increasing tendency. Our efforts in making Düsseldorf more popular are paying off, we have an increase in registrations in our near environment as well as international runners.”

The five strongest nations running in Düsseldorf are the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Japan, Belgium and France, followed closely by Italy.

On April 28th 2013 more than 14.000 participants, marathon and relay runners, are expected in Düsseldorf.

When acquiring runners Winschermann and his team try to get in direct contact with runners at national and international Marathon-EXPOs, recently coming back from New York, Berlin and Florence. Of course the regional capital is a convincing factor.

Easy to reach because of its central position in the heart of Europe and the centric Düsseldorf International Airport it offers the perfect infrastructure for the flat and fast METRO GROUP Marathon Düsseldorf.
