RUNNING GERMANY: DRESDEN – 15. Morgenpost Dresden Marathon on october 20th, 2013

Marathon running is set to return to one of Europe's most beautiful cities on 20th October, as the city of Dresden plays host to the 2013 edition of the Dresden Marathon.

With its rich history and culture, stunning architecture and charming "old town" feel, Dresden has rightly become regarded by tourists as one of Europe's real gems.

The Dresden Marathon does a great job of including many of the city's numerous highlights, including the Dresden Cathedral, Dresden Royal Palace, the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts and gorgeous views of the River Elbe.

In addition to the endless architectural delights, the Marathon also offers runners a flat, fast course which is ideal for setting personal bests. Half Marathon, 10km and 4.2km distances are also offered.

The event has become known for having a fantastic atmosphere, with bands playing along the course and cheery locals out in numbers to support runners. With approximately 7500 runners participating across all four distances last year, the event is ideally sized to be a well organised, enthralling and personal event for runners.

A brilliantly run event in one of the world's nicest cities, the Dresden Marathon is absolutely an event worth making a trip for.
