RUNNING GERMANY: COLOGNE 2016 – Raymond Choge wins anniversary marathon in Cologne

The winner of the 20th edition of the RheinEnergieMarathon Cologne again comes from Kenya. Raymond Kipchumb Choge overwhelmingly wins with a strong time of 2:08:39 hours in front of his fellow countryman Nicholas Kamayka who finished in 2:10:22 hours. Allan Kiprono completes the Kenyan triple in 2:10:41 hours.

The women’s race also has a Kenyan winner: Bornes Kitur triumphs in 2:32:16 hours. Local matador Maike Schön of the LAZ Puma Rhein Sieg follows with 2:47:51 hours and also wins the Cologne city championship. The third podium position goes to the Cologne speed skater Claudia Maria Henneken in 3:03:00 hours.

Laura Hottenrott crowns her half marathon debut with the victory

The first half marathon of Laura Hottenrott (GSV Eintracht Baunatal) is an entire success. The German runner-up on the 10 k distance crowns her debut with a time of 1:15:15 hours. In 1:15:52 hours Inga Hundeborn of Solinger LC comes up second. And Julia Galuschka (LG Telis Finanz Regensburg) finishes third in 1:17:06 hours

Tom Gröschel of TC FIKO Rostock is the new winner in the men’s race. With a time of 1:04:52 hours he defeats Jonas Koller (LG Telis Finanz Regensburg) ending up in 1:05:53 hours in front of his club mate Tobias Blum (1:06:49 hours).
