RUNNING GERMANY: BRÄUNLINGEN – Black Forest Marathon – Sunday, 13th October 2013 – Oldest Marathon in Germany

Black Forest Marathon – since 1968. The Black Forest Marathon is one of the oldest marathon events worldwide. In 1968 women were officially allowed to participate, making it the first marathon in the world with female runners.

The Black Forest Marathon of 1971 was the largest run worldwide with 1,500 participants.

In 1974 the first international women’s cup was held in Bräunlingen and 1975 saw the first national women’s championship at the Black Forest Marathon.

Since 1968 the Black Forest Marathon always takes place on the second Sunday of October, the route beingone of the most beautiful natural trails in Europe.

Awards and prizes:

First, Second and Third place prizes for winners of specific age groups.

Rating of running teams: Men and women will receive separate ratings. The first three runners of a club or organisation are considered a team. Prizes for the first three teams.
 

Rating and Classification:

Men and women will receive separate ratings.
In addition to the rating of the race as a whole, supplementary ratings will be given for the following age groups: male/female youth, male/female 20-29 (main-class) and age groups for every 5 years of age up to male/female 75

All races are held in accordance with German Athletics Federation rules.

Important: the rating of running teams will be based on the aggregate times achieved by the first three participants of a team who pass the finishing line. Important: For the rating of the teams, it is indispensable that all runners from the same team use a uniform denomination of their club or organisation.

Timing with the Real-Time ChampionChip System:

If you own a ChampionChip timing chip, you will only need to write the number of your chip or affix the bar-code of the chip on the right field of your registration form. If you don’t possess a chip, you may rent one for 30 € (see Entry fee). If you return the chip after the race on the same day of the event, 25 € will be refunded to you.
If you do not return the chip on the day of the event, the chip will be automatically considered as yours and the deposit of 30 € will be regarded as payment for the chip.

 

  • Please attach the chip to the laces of your running shoe.
  • 5 € fee + 25 € deposit for timing chip rental.
  • No participation without timing chip.
  • Chip is not transferable.

 

Race certificate and results lists:

Race certificates can be picked up at the venue. After the race, certificates and results lists can be printed from the internet on www.schwarzwaldmarathon.de

 

Black Forest Marathon

 

Facilities and amenities:

  • A pair of running socks from Falke
  • Medal for all up finishers. All results will be available on the internet one day after the race
  • Race certificates can be picked uo at the venue or printed from the internet one day after the race.
  • Free overnight accommodation from 12th-13th October 2013 in modern and heated gym. Please bring camping mats and sleeping bags along.
  • Access to showers.
  • Service spots are located about every 5 km along the course. Available are free isotonic drinks, tea, water, bananas, bread and braided white loaf.
  • A 0,50 Euro contribution per participant by the DLV/BLV Federation.
  • Transportation of runner’s own food and drink to service spots of his or her choice.
  • Timing exclusively with the “Real-Time ChampionChip“. Timing is not possible without a chip.
  • Pace Runners (Marathon) for the following finishing times: 3:29, 3:59, 4:29.
  • Race leaders will be escorted by cyclists.
  • Free use of the luggage deposit service (without liability).
  • Free parking.

Nearest airports are Zurich or Stuttgart. By car it takes about an hour from each airport to Bräunlingen. For train connections check on www.bahn.de

By car:

From Freiburg (west)

Take the B31 (national highway) towards Donaueschingen, exit in Döggingen
(after the tunnel) and follow the signage to Bräunlingen.

 

From Offenburg (north west):

Take the B33 (national highway) towards Villingen-Schwenningen and continue towards Donaueschingen/Hüfingen, exit in Hüfingen and follow the signage to Bräunlingen.

 

From Singen (south east):

Take the A81 (autobahn) towards Stuttgart exit in Geisingen, then take the B311/B31 (national highway) towards Donaueschingen, exit in Hüfingen and follow the signage to Bräunlingen.

 

From Zürich (south)

Take the Swiss national highway N4 towards Schaffhausen, exit in Schaffhausen (after the city tunnel) towards Donaueschingen/Stuttgart, take the B27 (national highway) to Hüfingen exit there and follow the signage to Bräunlingen.
