RUNNING GERMANY: BERLIN-MARATHON: Only 18 days until the start

The BMW BERLIN-MARATHON is almost within reach. Only 18 days until the starting shot is fired. It is time now to keep your calm as you train and definitely not try to catch up for any deficits you might think you have (due to illness or lack of time).

When the BERLIN VITAL marathon expo opens on September 24, where all participants must go to pick up their race materials, please be aware of the following items:

All participants must pick up their race materials in person. Overview of all important procedures

• Race numbers must be picked up by each individual runner; group pick-ups are not possible. Pick-up by any other person is not possible!
• The start pass is required (confirmation of your registration), as well as a photo ID (personal ID, passport, driver's licence) for pick-up.
• A wristband which gets you into the start area on raceday will be tied around your wrist. Do not take it off before leaving the finish area. Access to the starting block will be denied to all people without a duly tied wristband.
• Exchanging race numbers will lead to disqualification.
• Every participant will receive a clear bag with the race materials, which is to be used to transport any belongings into the pre-start area (lawn in front of the Reichstag). This will help expedite the check-in process at the entrances to the start area (bag control).
• No backpacks, bags or suitcases are allowed in the start area.
• Please note that access to the start area at the lawn in front of the Reichstag is limited to three entry gates. The entire and expansive area is fenced in to satisfy the safety requirements of the authorities. See map, headline "Entrance to the starting area".

These measures, which were successfully initiated in 2013, will aid in the increased demand for enhanced security.
