RUNNING GERMANY – BERLIN – Countdown: 8 days to go – BERLIN-MARATHON
42.195 km are long enough. To avoid that any participant of the BERLIN MARATHON must run even one meter more than that, the right way will be marked accurately for the runners. On one hand it´s marked through the Blue Line, and also with fences and warning tape.
In total 299.5 meters of fence are to be built up at 14 different critical points. Together with around 800 volunteers the EVENTS team set up the fences in such a way that a "run channel" is created and non-one can get off the race course.
The structures are especially necessary where participants have to switch the road lane because of traffic reasons, for example at Potsdamer Platz and Leipziger Straße.
There is not much time for the construction of fences along the race course. Although they are already distributed in the week prior to the marathon to the 14 critical points by a rental company but they are placed not before September 30th with the release of the track 45 minutes before the marathon start.
