RUNNING GERMANY: BERLIN – 100 Miles Berlin – The Wall race on august 15, 2015: New aid station at Checkpoint Charlie

By GRR 0

Most aid stations at the Wall Race are firmly established by now and partly in on the race since its first edition in the year 2011. Most notably the autonomous supervision of the aid stations by the station teams has been proved to be successful.

The single aid stations have developed their own very special and unique atmosphere which is valued by the participants.

We are even more excited about new aid station teams joining us, as this year at the Checkpoint Charlie, one of the famous former border checkpoints. Right abreast the Asisi Panorama (km 153) the association Danke Deutschland (Thank you Germany) will arrange their tables and food and encourage the runners for the last few kilometers. The association was once founded by Vietnamese people who came to Germany as refugees and so called “Boat People” in times of the Vietnamese civil war.

Everyone who would like to cast a glance at the stunning Asisi Wall Panorama during the run or afterwards, is invited to do so.

The panorama shows a street corner in Kreuzberg brutally intersected by the Wall shortly before the “turnaround” in 1989 (the reunion between East and West Germany). All Wall Race participants are granted free access on presentation of the race number (including one accompanying person) on Saturday (15 August) till approximately 8:00 pm and on Sunday (16 August) from 9:00 am on.

Changes have been made as well at the aid stations 21, 23 and 24. The station locations were slightly moved in order to optimize the sustenance of our runners.

All information with the up-to-date aid station data is found in the category Course.
