RUNNING GERMANY: BERLIN – 100 Miles Berlin – Opening of registration for the Berlin Wall Race 2015

By GRR 0

On 15./16. August 2015 the fourth edition of the 100MeilenBerlin is carried out under the patronage of the former GDR civil-rights activist  Rainer Eppelmann. It is still some time till then, but the registration is now opened via the website www.100Meilen.de.

Everyone interested in starting should not think about it too long since the starting places for single runners are limited to 350.

Everyone who does not want to tackle the 160,9 kilometers on his/her own can start in a relay. Possible are 2, 4 and 10plus relay teams, i.e. more than 10 runners (up to 28) can accept the challenge of the Berlin Wall Trail. The time limit for the relay teams is set to 27 hours and to 30 hours for single runners.

By the way, the winner of 2014, the British Mark Perkins, needed only slightly more than 13 hours thereby setting a new course record…

Start and finish area will be at the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark in the Cantianstrasse. Along the Berlin Wall Trail, which for the most parts is equivalent to the former border strip, more than 300 volunteers will be on duty at a total of 27 refreshment stations.

The 100-Meilen race of Berlin exists since 2011, back then carried out for the 50th anniversary of the erection of the Berlin Wall.

It is an annual race in August and wants to remember the victims of the former east-west border in a sportive way. Organizing association is the LG Mauerweg Berlin e.V.
