Run Britain – News – Mercer Surrey Half Marathon: Surrey’s Biggest
The Mercer Surrey Half Marathon is returning on 12th March 2017. Online registration is busy – so make sure you secure your place! Seasoned distance athletes as well as thousands of newcomers to the running community have already done just that.
The Mercer Surrey Half Marathon is expected to attract more runners than ever before to Woking. In addition to the title Half Marathon event and Kids’ Race – which saw over 500 children take part in 2016 – a brand new 5km run has been added for 2017.
Runners will enjoy a fast, flat course along quality road surfaces, and stunning scenery offered by Surrey’s tranquil countryside. The increasingly popular running event boasts full road closures, UKA affiliation, five water stations and live music en route. Participants will receive access to the event village and exclusive discounts, free bag storage, Xempo race pacers, finish line goodies, a free mobile app, professional chip timing and a stunning medal.
The 01:02:49 course record set by Sammy Nyokaye in 2015 is out there to be beaten. If you’re looking to run a personal best time, or simply have the easiest journey possible to your first half marathon finish this is the course to do it on!
The Mercer Surrey Half Marathon will see the return of Macmillan Cancer Support as a headline charity partner for 2017, alongside Harrison’s Fund as the local charity partner. The Surrey Half is proud to support and work with a number of other charities as well as businesses in the community, and have also partnered with Alzheimer’s Research UK, KSS Air Ambulance and Woking & Sam Beare Hospices.
