Philadelphia, PA – August18, 2011 – With a flat, fast course and miles of entertainment and live music, the Rock ‘n' Roll Philadelphia Half Marathon is quickly becoming a favorite among runners, with more than 21,000 expected to toe the start line on Sunday, September 18th and an anticipated sell-out on the horizon.

The course will tour Philadelphia's most famous and scenic landmarks, with a start and finish in Eakins Oval near the Philadelphia Art Museum, running through historic Center City past Independence Hall and along the Schuylkill River. Runners will find motivation in the sights and sounds of live, local bands rocking every mile along with cheerleaders and thousands of spectators.

Former "Poison" frontman Bret Michaels will help runners celebrate their finish line accomplishment with a rocking post-race concert, which is free and open to the public. The race begins at 8:00 am.

"We're extremely proud of the response from runners, who continue to help this great event grow and evolve," said Adam Zocks, General Manager. "It's unlike any other race and offers an experience and course that both beginner athletes and the world's fastest runners can appreciate. We encourage anyone planning to participate to register as soon as possible, as we are on pace to sell-out quickly."

For 32 years, the highly respected road race was known as the Philadelphia Distance Run, and officially became a part of the Rock ‘n' Roll Marathon series in 2010. The fast, flat course is the site of five World and three American records.

Race weekend kicks off with a Health & Fitness Expo presented by Power Balance at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, with more than 100 exhibitors offering the latest running gear, training tips and interactive clinics. The event takes place Friday and Saturday, September 16th & 17th and is free and open to the public.
