Megan Keith (Ross Cairns, Inverness), fresh from winning the European Cross Country silver medal last month, is joined by fellow European XC team-mates Phoebe Anderson (Laurie Henes, Herne Hill), Verity Ockenden (Swansea) and Poppy Tank (City of Plymouth) to complete the senior women’s quartet.
All 5 of AGU's runners on Day Two made the top 3 on their leg, the only team to pull that off, and its winning time of 10:37:34 for the complete 217.1 km course took an incredible 4 minutes off its own CR.
Teams start Day Two with the same time difference they had at the finish of Day One, with all teams that finished over 10 minutes behind AGU starting together and carrying a time handicap throughout the day.
The performances were so good, 58-minute half marathons and the like, that you have to stop and think about how World Athletics' pride and joy, its world rankings system, in a way discriminates against Japanese athletes.
