Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon – 70 days to go!

Hi there. HAPPY 2016! We hope your preparation is going well and that you have managed to stay injury free!

The biggest news of the New Year was definitely the unexpected early closure of the Ultra Marathon. When we looked at the daily entry rate in December, we predicted that the 11 000 entry limit would be reached by mid-January, so we were surprised and delighted when entries closed in the early hours of 2 January 2016!

It goes to show that road running – and especially long distance running – is thriving in South Africa and it is great to see how people are increasingly looking after their own health and wellness.

 

 For the next month, the big focus will be on Substitution Entries and ensuring that all entrants have updated their personal, medical, running club and qualifier information.
Remember, the deadline for all profile updates is 23 February 2016, so don't delay this important exercise. Watch our Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as our website, for all the latest news in this regard.
 Best of luck with your training. It's amazing to see everyone running with their old OMTOM t-shirts proudly on display! See you on the road and trails!

Ultra Marathon, Half Marathon & Trail Runs ENTRIES ARE FULL. Click here to view the Substitution Entries process. If you have already entered, remember to add your outstanding details (e.g. running club, qualifier & updated medical information) before 23 February 2016.
Fun Runs Entries for the 56m Nappy Dash, 300m Toddlers' Trot, as well as the 2.1km and 5.6km Fun Runs will open at 10h00 on 25 January 2016.

Don't forget: Your Ultra Marathon entry is ONLY secure if you add the necessary qualifying information by 23 February 2016. No exceptions!

Please click here to view the list of races that count as Ultra Qualifiers, and please email us if you want to check whether your favourite race can be added to the list.

Remember:  23 February 2016 is also the deadline for updates to your running club, medical profile, etc. Do not miss this deadline!

HALF MARATHON CHARITY ENTRIES

There is still a very limited number of Half Marathon Charity Entries available.
If you would like to run for a good cause, please click here to view the list of charities with available entries and contact them directly.

Note that the entry fee varies per charity, and depends on whether or not you are required to raise additional funds.

 

RUNNERS' VILLAGE APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!

Every year, the OMTOM team provides accommodation and meals to a group of athletes who would normally not be able to participate in the world's most beautiful marathon.

Applications for the Runners' Village are now open. Clubs are welcome to apply on behalf of their less-privileged runners, provided that they are unemployed or earn less than R3 000 per month.

 

CLUB GAZEBO BOOKINGS OPEN FEB 2016

Club Gazebo Bookings will open at 10h00 on 2 February 2016. Running clubs hoping to secure a Gazebo spot at the OMTOM finish line must not delay when bookings open, as these spots are snapped up within minutes.

RUN AS ONE VIDEO SERIES LAUNCHES

We are incredibly excited to launch the Run As One video series that will run between 15 January 2016 and Race Day. Ranging from training tips, inspirational stories, medical advice and more, these videos promise to educate and inspire. Watch out for these videos on our Facebook page and please share them on your own social networks to spread the #RunAsOne message!
