NEW YORK ROAD RUNNERS – The annual Japan Run has been declared the Japan Day Run for Hope* to support the people of Japan
You Can Help Japan This year, our annual Japan Run has been declared the Japan Day Run for Hope* to support the people of Japan as they recover from March 11 earthquake and tsunami. Here's how you can help. Donate Through Crowdrise We're asking all runners, friends, and family to visit Crowdrise to make a donation to the American Red Cross Japanese Relief efforts. Our suggested donation is at least $20. All net proceeds will help the people of Japan, and NYRR will match the donation, up to $25,000. Run or Walk Virtually Register for our Virtual Run or Walk for Hope and pledge to do a 4-mile run or walk between May 1 and May 22, wherever you are. The American Red Cross will receive 100% of the net proceeds of your $40 entry fee, and you'll get one race credit for the ING New York City Marathon 2012 guaranteed-entry program; see our website for complete qualification rules. After you run, submit your time to compare results with other virtual participants. Donate on Race Day On May 8, Japan Day @ Central Park will accept on-site donations near the race finish line in Central Park. However you choose to help, thank you from NYRR and Japan Day @ Central Park. * The Japan Day Run for Hope has reached capacity, so please donate or participate virtually to help. |
