New World Indoor 1500m record for Soboleva – 3:58.05

Yelena Soboleva clocked the first world indoor record of the year during 3rd day of Russian Championships in Moscow as she won the 1500 m in 3:58.05.  

She bettered her own mark from Russian Champs 2006 (Moscow Feb 18) by 0.23 of a second.

Behind Soboleva, in second placed was reigning world indoor champion Yulia Fomenko who was also impressive with 4:00.21.

All in all, it augers very well for a top class European Athletics Indoor Cup in Moscow next weekend.
