By admin 0

MALIBU, Calif. – Over 800 runners from sixteen states lined up at the start of the XTERRA Malibu Creek Xduro on Sunday, May 2, 2010.

Emilio Perez and Mary Colburn had the winning times of one hour, 38 minutes, 29 seconds and 1:43:56 over the half-marathon distance.

Culver City’s Colburn, 32, set a 22K women’s course record. Anissa Faulkner, 39, was second in 1:57:00. Sarah Bozorg rounded out the women’s podium in 2:03:39.

Perez, 31 of Riverside, bested Paul Ambrose’s second place time of 1:39:03 to win the men’s long race. Jonathan Toker, 35, took third in 1:40:15.

Camron Shahmirzadi, 21, and Megan Huebner, 15, championed the men’s and women’s 6K in 25:22 and 30:43 respectively.

Runners were rewarded for their efforts by a post-race BBQ sponsored by Subaru.

The XTERRA Malibu Creek Xduro is usually the XTERRA SoCal series finale, however early season weather caused race directors to postpone the XTERRA Mission Gorge Trail Run to Sunday, May 30, 2010.

Top season scores will be crowned XTERRA SoCal Regional Champions and given free entry into the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on Sunday, Sept 18, 2010 in Bend, Ore.
