Marathon & Lifestyle Travel Specialists – Rod Dixon to be Inducted into the NYRR Hall of Fame
This week sees us in Singapore, measuring the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore, which will be held on Sunday 4 December. We are always in awe of the thousands of runners who complete the 42.195km in the heat and humidity of Singapore. Measuring the distances is enough work for us!
Our HUGE announcement this week is that Rod Dixon will be hosting our 2017 trip to the TCS New York City Marathon. Rod will be inducted into the NYCM Hall of Fame this week and we are thrilled to have him on board next year. Read more below and get your pens out to sign up!
Our aim is to bring runners a truly different experience when you travel to marathons. We have Kathrine Switzer joining us this year in NY, Mona hosting our trip to Berlin next year and now Rod heading up our trip in 2017. It is our aim to keep offering you marathon experiences 'that money can't buy.' In this case it can but there is no where else you can share your journey with the heroes of the sport. That's our differnece… we're part of the sport!

Rod Dixon to be Inducted into the NYRR Hall of Fame….. and he'll also be Hosting our 2017 Trip to the NYCM
Rod Dixon, "The Flying Kiwi," will be honoured this Thursday when he is inducted into the NYRR Hall of Fame.
Since its creation in 2011, the NYRR Hall of Fame has honored legendary figures in the sport of road running, who through their triumphs and contributions have made NYRR and the TCS New York City Marathon what they are today.
In their announcemnt of Dixon's induction the NYRR said:
Dixon of New Zealand is the only New York City Marathon champion to have also won an Olympic medal at 1500 meters. At age 22, he captured bronze in Munich in 1972, and 11 years later he won the 1983 New York City Marathon in dramatic fashion, coming from behind to overtake race leader Geoff Smith of Great Britain in the 26th mile. Several years after his marathon win in New York, he covered the race as a TV commentator by wearing a "helmet-cam" and keeping pace with the lead runners. Dixon is also the founder and CEO of Rod Dixon's KiDSMARATHON Foundation, which has a mission to encourage all kids to be active and to make healthy choices in their daily life. At age 66, he still runs regularly, often accompanying KiDSMARATHON participants in their workouts. Dixon's versatility as a distance runner is without peer. In 1983, when he won the NYCM, he was the world's top road runner and was named by Runners' World as the "most versatile runner of the 20th century." From being the world's best runner, possibly Dixon's proudest work is the establishment of the Rod Dixon's KiIDSMARATHON Foundation.
On a personal note, Rod has been a close friend for years, having come to Canberra in 2003 to launch our Kids Marathon. He was so impressed with the concept, he returned to the US and set up his foundation, encouraging children to embrace a healthy lifestyle.
We are thrilled to have Rod host our 2017 NYCM trip – Rod's enthusiasm is infectious and he will take you on an unbelievable experience in New York in November 2017.
