Mankato Marathon Records Record January Registrations

MANKATO, Minn. – The Mankato Marathon is excited to announce the success of our January registration event. The goal was to have close to 400 registrations by Thursday, January 10. During the first ten days of January there were 188 people who signed up for the full marathon and 732 people who signed up for the half marathon for 2013. That's a total of 920 runners to date for the 2013 marathon and half marathon.

"We don't usually see these types of registration numbers until late March," said Mark Bongers, Race Director from Final Stretch.  "Hopefully that is a great sign for the rest of the year especially since our current half marathon numbers are nearly half of the 1,500 half marathon runners we had in 2012!"

"The registration event has us so excited for the 2013 races," said Anna Thill from the Greater Mankato Convention & Visitors Bureau. "We hope the 920 runners who signed up early will be our biggest advocates for the 2013 races – encouraging friends and families to join them in Mankato this year."

Runners were offered a significant discount of over 50% for each of these races for 2013. From January 1 to 10, 2013 marathoners were able to register for just $40.00. That is a $45.00 savings from final race pricing. Half Marathoners were able to register for just $30.00, a $35.00 savings.

Runners can still register early for other early bird discounts online at www.mankatomarathon.com or print out a paper form from the website and mail it in to Final Stretch.
