London Olympian Shigetomo Out of Nagoya Women\’s Marathon – translated by Brett Larner – Japan running News

Representatives of the Mar. 10 Nagoya Women's Marathon, the final domestic selection race for August's World Championships in Moscow, announced on Mar. 1 that London Olympian Risa Shigetomo (Team Tenmaya) has withdrawn due to pain in her left leg and elsewhere.  

While training in the United States in February she developed problems with her left leg's plantar fascia and calf.

Shigetomo finished 79th in the London Olympics after winning the 2012 Osaka International Women's Marathon in the fastest Japanese time of the year.  In the statement released by Nagoya organizers she said, "I'm very disappointed not to be able to run.

I want to recover from this as soon as I can and get back on the starting line."
