They are known for their commercial astuteness, celebrity status and high profile careers. But on Sunday they will just be Katie and Peter – two among 36,000 people running 26.2 miles through the streets of London for charities close to their heart.

Katie Price and Peter Andre may have agreed not to race one another to the finish line in the Flora London Marathon this Sunday (26 April), but Price's competitive nature shone through as they discussed their respective fundraising totals ahead of the 26.2 mile challenge.

Price believes she's on target to raise a quarter of a million pounds if she completes the race, and on the advice of her family she's sure she'll make it. "I've definitely raised more than Pete," she says, "but that's only if I finish.

"My brother has run New York and Berlin and he says that no matter what it takes, I'll get there. My mum and dad ran London last year and they say I'll enjoy every minute."

The pair have trained seriously for the race and will run together on the roads from Greenwich to Westminster, but Price is concerned they're under additional pressure to complete the course compared to their fellow runners.

"There's a lot of press attention and a lot of people waiting for us to fail," she says. "But I know we just have to get over the finish line."

Husband Pete is more upbeat but admits it may be more of a psychological battle than a physical one. He also knows it will be an emotional day for them both, especially for Price who is running for Vision, a charity for blind, visually impaired and dyslexic children. She will wear a picture of her disabled son Harvey on her vest.

"We're running with my brother, sister and management team and we should have fun," says Price. "I'm so excited about getting the coach to the start of the race – it's the start of our exciting journey.

"We'll be driving through London, seeing all the people building up on the streets – my mum told me that when I'm tired I should run near to the crowds for support."

Andre is running for the NSPCC, motivated by his own experiences of being bullied as a child and the book ‘A Child Called It'. He is an ambassador for the charity and nominated the NSPCC to benefit from his participation in ITV's third series of 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here' in 2003. After finishing third he donated his winnings of £215,000 to the NSPCC.

"The total I've raised is nowhere near as much as Katie's," he admits. "But it doesn't matter if it's £2 or £5 –it all counts.

"I don't think we'll ever forget the day. I think it will be one of the best days of our lives."

Price's longest run in training was 18 miles while Andre has run 21 miles, so the pair are undoubtedly well prepared for a race which will test them to the maximum.

They both say they're scared of failing, but if their enthusiasm and dedication is anything to go by, you wouldn't bet against them crossing the finish line. And you definitely wouldn't want to challenge Price – she clearly doesn't do defeat.
