IAAF – Canon employees learn about athletics
Canon, who in November 2012 was announced as the latest Official IAAF Partner of the IAAF World Athletics Series of competitions, and who between 2013-2016 will sponsor a total of 15 IAAF events including the next two editions of the IAAF World Championships in Moscow in 2013 and in Beijing in 2015, held a ‘learning at work day’ for their employees on 23 May at the European headquarters.
Once a year Canon offers their employees the opportunity to attend different workshops to get inspiration and learn new things that they don’t come across in their day-to-day work, and on this occasion Canon’s partnership with the IAAF and the sport of athletics was part of the experience.
As part of the day’s activities, a “pop up” photo studio was built where Canon employees were offered the chance to have their photos taken with the medals from the IAAF World Championships, in this instance a set from Berlin 2009.
Employees also were able to view autographed track spikes on loan from the IAAF which had been worn by the 2012 World Athletes of the Year Usain Bolt and Allyson Felix.
The partnership between IAAF and Canon reunites the governing body of athletics with an international corporation that is renowned throughout the world as a top brand for cameras, lenses, video cameras, copiers, multifunction devices, printers, scanners, facsimile machines and projectors.
Canon has indeed a long history and relationship partnering with IAAF including the inaugural World Championships in Helsinki in 1983 and in 1987 in Rome.
